Mariam Kamara is an architect from Niger. Born in 1979 in St Etienne (France), she grew up in Niger and received a master’s degree in architecture from the University of Washington in 2013. In 2014, she founded the architecture and research studio Atelier Masōmī, with which she tackles a wide variety of public, cultural, residential, commercial and urban design projects. Winner of the Rolex Mentor Award and Protégé Arts Initiative, she has been a collaborator with architect David Adjaye.
In 2017, she taught urban studies as an associate professor at Brown University in Rhode Island and in 2022 was appointed Professor of Heritage Architecture and Sustainability at the Swiss Federal Institute of Technology Zurich (ETHZ).
