Nick Gelpi (1979) is a licensed architect and the founder of Gelpi Projects, an Architecture design firm dedicated to examining the relationships between material and building concepts. Gelpi’s design practice has won numerous design awards including first place in the international design competition for the new Wynwood Greenhouse Park in 2014, which is currently nearing construction in Miami’s Wynwood Arts District. In 2016 his design collaboration with artist Markus Linnenbrink, titled House Paint Pavilion, was nominated for a Mies Crown Hall of the Americas Prize (MCHAP) at IIT. His practice has recently won two AIA Miami Design awards and in 2014 Gelpi received a Curbed – Young Guns Award naming him one of the top 10 Young Designers in America. Gelpi trained professionally in the New York office of Steven Holl Architects, and has previously taught at MIT, Boston, and Ohio State University; currently he is an Assistant Professor of Architecture at Florida International University in Miami.
