Fourth Edition 2013-2014
Je Ahn was born in 1983 near Busan, on the south coast of South Korea. He moved to the UK when he was thirteen and went to school in West Sussex. He is an RIBA Chartered Architect and studied Architecture at the University of Bath, TU Delft and London Met. Prior to setting up Studio Weave, He worked with Carmody Groarke, Bennetts Associates, and Nash Parker Architects. Je Ahn is also a director of MUSARC, a research and event platform based at The Cass Faculty of Art, Architecture and Design, London Metropolitan University.
Maria Smith was born in 1982 and grew up on the Sussex coast. She is an ARB registered Architect and studied Architecture at the University of Bath, TU Delft and London Met. Prior to setting up Studio Weave, Maria worked with Carmody Groarke, David Morley Architects and Aaron Evans Architects. Maria has also taught at London Metropolitan University and has been a member of the Southwark Design Review Panel.
Studio Weave is a London-based architecture practice set up in 2006 by Maria Smith and Je Ahn. It is a collaborative studio, involved in works for both public and private clients, in UK and abroad. Its projects have been acknowledged by a number of awards including the Civic Trust Awards, where The Longest Bench won the Special Award for Community Impact and Engagement.
