Fourth Edition 2013-2014
He was born in 1965 in Mexico City. He graduated with honours from the Faculty of Architecture of the Universidad Nacional Autonoma de Mexico (UNAM), Atelier Max Cetto. Over the last twenty years of practice, he has developed projects for public and private multi-scale, alternating his work with the delivery of interventions of ephemeral architecture in art exhibitions as well as museography. In 1991 he established Taller de Arquitectura. In 2011 the name changed to Taller MauricioRocha+GabrielaCarrillo. His work has received many awards, including the first prize and two gold medals in Bienal de Arquitectura Mexicana, in the Bienal Panamericana and in the Bienal Latinoamericana, among other national and international recognitions.
His work has been exhibited in Mexico, China, Brazil, New York, Venice and Turin, among other cities and countries. He has recently been a fellow and a member of the jury for FONCA Arts Commission, as well as for several other institutions, competitions and Biennials. Since 2011 he is a member of the Academia Nacional de Arquitectura. He has taught at several universities in Mexico City and has lectured in various parts of Mexico, South America, USA and Europe. Some of his projects are part of the collection of the Centre Pompidou in Paris. His work has been published in different parts of the world, in magazines and books, and in 2011 his works has been collected in a monographic volume.
