Yashar Yektajo

Born in Tehran, Iran, in 1993, Yashar Yektajo moved to Mexico in 1996. In 2011, he began his B.Arch degree at the Academy of Architecture, Mendrisio. His academic journey included exchange semesters at TU Delft in 2014, and at the Kyoto Institute of Technology in 2016. In 2013, he also interned at Caesar Zumthor Architekten in Basel. In 2017, Yashar graduated from the Academy of Architecture of Mendrisio with a Diploma in Architecture, under the guidance of Professor Valerio Olgiati. That same year, he founded Yektajo Architects in Mexico, marking the start of his architectural influence in the region. He opened an office in Todos Santos, Baja California Sur, in 2018, and expanded with a second office in Querétaro, Mexico, in 2023.

Yashar’s work has been widely recognised, including a nomination for the Mies Crown Hall Americas Prize for Hotel Paradero in 2021. His design for Casa Melina was featured on the cover of Dwell Magazine in 2024, being celebrated for its integration of modernity into a historical context. Since 2021, Yashar has been an active member of the Advisory Council for Casa de Arquitectura in Querétaro.
