SUMA is an architectural firm specialising in unique residential and public architecture, recognized for its research-driven, pioneering approach. They have developed an ecosystemic design system that promotes social connections in the built environment, using biomaterials like wood and maintaining a high level of ecological responsibility.

Their work has received numerous awards: Mies Van der Rohe Awards finalist, COAM First Prize, IFLA Award for Best Public Library, FAD Award, Ciutat de Barcelona Award, ASPRIMA-SIMA Awards, NAN Award, REBUILD Awards, and Wood Design Awards.
Elena Orte (1980) and Guillermo Sevillano (1980) are both graduates of the Escuela Técnica Superior de Arquitectura de Madrid (ETSAM), with degrees in advanced architectural design from ETSAM and Columbia University. They head the studio they founded in 2005. They also teach at ETSAM in Madrid and IAAC-Institute for Advanced Architecture of Catalonia in Barcelona. SUMA has participated in exhibitions and conferences around the world.

Based in Madrid, SUMA’s multidisciplinary team includes architects, engineers, landscape architects, and sustainability experts. Their notable projects include the Gabriel García Márquez Library in Barcelona and public housing in Madrid, winners of several national and international competitions.
