Luo Yujie (1984) holds Bachelor’s, Master’s, and PhD degrees from the School of Architecture at the Central Academy of Fine Arts (CAFA). Since 2013, he has lectured at CAFA, teaching Construction Basics. From 2007 to 2015, he served as Creative Director at the Beijing Institute of Architectural Design. He then headed the Sustainable Village Studio at the China New Rural Planning and Design Institute from 2015 to 2017. In 2017, he founded his architectural practice, LUO studio.

Luo is committed to sustainable construction, emphasising minimal material use to create versatile spaces. He specialises in wooden architecture, integrating prefabricated steel and timber structures, and striving to connect with traditional Oriental timber construction techniques by utilising local craft skills. Luo also explores innovative solutions to address social issues, such as maximising the reuse of temporary structures. He has developed a method for constructing temporary exhibition environments using corrugated cardboard. Furthermore, he is dedicated to enhancing activity and learning spaces for children in underdeveloped areas, creatively reusing abandoned spaces and materials in urban and rural settings.
