Ninth Edition 2023-2024
La Cabina de la Curiosidad was founded in Quito (Ecuador) by Marie Combette (1987) and Daniel Moreno Flores (1984) with the idea of exploring thoughts, researching material resources, reflecting on and questioning the forms of urban development, sustaining culture through ethnographic and architectural practices, raising awareness about human waste, valuing natural ecosystems and promoting solutions for the human habitat.
La Cabina’s practice has as its philosophical principles: to dream, to rejoice, to share, to optimise and to learn. From freedom of action, with a playful outlook capable of exploring possibilities, with humour and with the seriousness to deal with fundamental issues. The practice is interested in providing positive solutions for the common good, in which every action that it takes promotes the recovery of the territories in which we live. It develops working methods in the approach to contextual knowledge to start design processes: from the different communities, and creative immersions; from the reading of the territory, working with recycling, and systematisation to build efficiently, and finally from the poetic acts to face life, the gadgets to energise human actions, and a strong voice to fight for our rights, based on solid evidence from environmental studies and sustainable urban planning.
