dunkelschwarz ZT GmbH was founded in 2019 in Salzburg by Erhard Steiner (1983), Hannes Sampl (1985), and Michael Höcketstaller (1984), bringing together a wide range of architectural expertise and vision. Erhard Steiner completed his architectural studies at FH Kärnten in 2009. Hannes Sampl studied at FH Kärnten from 2005 to 2011 and later specialised in timber construction at Kunstuniversität Linz from 2013 to 2015. Michael Höcketstaller graduated from TU Graz in 2012, with additional studies at TU Eindhoven from 2009 to 2010.

The firm is known for its collaborative decision-making approach, blending the partners’ expertise to create award-winning designs that balance clarity with warmth. Their work spans a range of projects, including educational, cultural, residential, and infrastructural buildings, reflecting a commitment to thoughtful and impactful design. dunkelschwarz ZT GmbH has earned recognition through competitions such as the Schafbergbahn valley station in St. Wolfgang and the Salzburg Regionalstadtbahn “S-Link”, highlighting their innovative architectural approach.
