The office was founded in 2005 by Inês Vieira da Silva (1976) and Miguel Vieira (1977), and was included in the shortlist of 100 young architects from around the world recommended by Herzog & de Meuron in 2007 for a project in Ordos, Inner-Mongolia, China. Besides invitations to participate in several exhibitions and conferences, namely in Portugal, Switzerland, France, Italy, the Czech Republic, Germany and Spain, its work has been presented internationally in specialist publications, namely in China, North Korea, Portugal, Spain, France, the United Kingdom, Germany, The Netherlands and Italy. It was selected for various prizes, notably the Mies van der Rohe Award 2007 for the Gruta das Torres Visitor Centre, which also won the 1st Prize Tektónica/OA’09 National Award. Inês Vieira da Silva and Miguel Vieira won the first edition of the Portuguese National Award for young architects under 35 years old, and were selected for the Mies van der Rohe Award 2011 with the C/Z House. In 2011 they were finalists in the FAD Awards in the Temporary Interventions category with the exhibition CreativeLab Signed by Tenente at the MUDE-Design Museum, Lisbon, and they were also selected in the Architecture category with the Interpretation Centre of World Heritage Landscape, Pico Island, Azores.
