Fifth Edition 2015-2016
François Charbonnet was born in Geneva, Switzerland, in 1972. Between 1994 and 1999 he completed his architecture studies at the ETH Zürich, graduating with Prof. Hans Kollhoff. He attended an internship at Terence Riley Architects in New York, and was a collaborator of Herzog & de Meuron from 2000 until 2003. He has also been a collaborator of the joint venture Herzog & de Meuron/OMA for the Astor Place Hotel.
Patrick Heiz was born in Nyon, Switzerland in 1973, and studied architecture at the ETH Zürich. In 1999 he earned his diploma with Professor Hans Kollhoff. In 1997 he worked as an intern at Team Zoo, in Tokyo and at Ernst Gisel in Zürich. After the diploma he started his professional career as a collaborator of Herzog & de Meuron, until 2002.
In 2003 Charbonnet and Heiz opened their architectural practice Made in Sàrl, based in Geneva, Switzerland. The firm has been awarded several prizes, including the Swiss Art Awards – Architecture (2006), the Stahlbaupreis (2009) and the Bronzene Hase (2009). François Charbonnet has been a visiting professor at the EPFL-ENAC School of Architecture in Lausanne (2010-2011), while both Charbonnet and Heiz have been visiting professors at the ETH in Zürich (2011-2013) and the Accademia di architettura, Mendrisio (2014-2015).
