Nicola Navone (Lugano, 1967), secretary of the Award since its foundation in 2007, is Deputy Director of the Archivio del Moderno, a lecturer at the Accademia di architettura di Mendrisio, Università della Svizzera italiana (with which he collaborates since its foundation in 1996), and member of the Collegio di Dottorato (PhD) “Architecture. Innovation and Heritage”, Università degli Studi Roma Tre. His research focuses on three thematic areas: the analysis of the networks of relations of Ticinese architects, considered in different geographical and chronological contexts; the role of Ticinese architects and craftsmen in the transfer and dissemination of Italian architectural culture in Russia and Ukraine between the 18th and 19th centuries; the emergence of an internationally recognised contemporary Ticinese architecture, a topic on which he has focused his courses at the Accademia di architettura, his activity as visiting professor at the Iuav University of Venice (2013) and the Swiss National Science Foundation research project “Architecture in Canton Ticino, 1945-1980” (2016-2021). He is the author of numerous publications and has curated exhibitions and conferences in Switzerland and abroad (London, Rome, St. Petersburg, Venice, Vicenza).
