Mohsen Mostafavi is dean at the Harvard Graduate School of Design and Alexander and Victoria Wiley Professor of Design. He was Gale and Ira Drukier Dean of the College of Architecture, Art and Planning at the Cornell University, where he also had the role of Arthur L. and Isabel B. Wiesenberger Professor in Architecture.

Moreover, he chaired the Architectural Association School of Architecture in London, where he completed his studies. He made research on urban history in the Counter-Reformation period at the Universities of Essex and Cambridge, and he has been a lecturer at the University of Pennsylvania, at Cambridge University and at the Academy of Fine Arts in Frankfurt (Städelschule).
