The studio was founded in Lisbon in 1988 by João Perloiro (Lisbon, 1962), João Luis Ferreira (Lisbon, 1963), Paulo Perloiro (Lisbon, 1964) and Paulo Martins Barata (Lisbon 1965) shortly after graduation (all received a M.Arch. between 1987 and 1988 from the Universidade Técnica in Lisbon), and more recently by Pedro Appleton (Lisbon, 1970). They have worked in a cohesive structure which was set from the beginning to deal with large and complex urban projects in both form and program.
