Graduated at Swiss Federal Institute of Technology in Zurich (ETHZ), Bruno Reichlin has been the assistant of Giovanni K. Koenig at the University of Florence from 1969 to 1970 and later of Aldo Rossi at the ETHZ from 1972 to 1974. Scientific collaborator at the gta – Institute of History and Theory of architecture at the ETHZ from 1972 to 1981. Professor at the Ecole d’architeture of Nancy (1983-1984) and at the Ecole d’architecture of the University of Geneva (1984-1994). Full professor at the Institut d’architeture of the University of Geneva since 1995. Professor at the Accademia di architettura, Mendrisio – Università della Svizzera italiana, from 2000 to 2012.
Office with Fabio Reinhart in Lugano since 1970. Among his realizations: Casa Tonini in Torricella; restoration of Vecchio pretorio in Sornico, of the church in San Carlo Val di Peccia, of the house Pellanda in Biasca. Associated with M.-C Bétrix and E. Consolascio, Zurich, from 1975 to 1981; realizations: factory Sferax in Cortaillod and the warehouse Berani in Uster, etc. With Fabio Reinhart and Santiago Calatrava: façades of the warehouse Ernsting’s Miniladen in Coesfeld-Lette (Germany).
Projects of furniture for the company Molteni with Gabriele Geronzi. Author, curator and/or architect of many exhibitions, among them: “L’aventure Le Corbusier”, at the Pompidou Center, Paris (1987), “De Stijl en France” with Yve-Alain Bois, at the Institut Français d’Architecture, Paris (1985), “Carlo Mollino baut in den Bergen” at the Architekturmuseum, Basel (1990), “Paracelse”, Einsiedeln (1994), “Genève 1927, Concours pour le Palais des Nations”, Geneva (1995), “Ticino 1798-1998” at Villa Ciani, Lugano (1998), “Perret, la poétique du béton”, Le Havre (2002-2003), Turin (2003) and Paris (2004). Author of many studies and writings regarding Le Corbusier, Max Bill, Frederick Kiesler, Asnago and Vender, Robert Mallet-Stevens, Carlo Mollino, Jean Prouvé, Alberto Sartoris, Ludwig Mies van der Rohe, Carl Weidemeyer, Auguste Perret, Luigi Moretti etc., and also regarding contemporary architects, or also on specific themes such as the Functionalism of the years ’20-’30, the modern architecture in the mountains, the modern architecture and the advertising, the modern memorial monument, the preservation of the modern and contemporary architecture, the cubism, the Italian neorealism, etc.
